Welcome everyone to the 79th edition of ‘Hot Gat or Fudd Crap?’, one of our many series here on TFB. If you’re new to the series, this is where we look at the most obscure firearms that are actually for sale and ask the question – is this Gat a sweet deal or only have Fudd appeal? Each week the TFB staff weighs in with their thoughts, but readers get the final say in the poll at the bottom of each article.
In our last edition, our poll showed that you, the readers, decided the Black Powder 1911 was actually a hot gat.
At this time the original auction has ended and the Black Powder 1911 has sold. After a 46 bid bidding war, GunBroker buyer rnmaine snagged this one-off black powder 1911 for $685.00.
In this week’s edition of HGFC, we look at a Mandalorian themed Rock Island 1911. As is tradition, this custom Cerakoted 1911 is currently up for sale on GunBroker for $1,599 Starting Bid, or $1,999.00 Buy It Now.
HOT GAT or FUDD CRAP?
Mandalor or Pure Fuddlore?
Let’s see what the Staff had to say about this week’s offering:
“For the thin slice of venn diagram that contains fudds who subscribe to Disney+” – Rusty S.
“The person who painted this knows nothing of Star Wars or how to paint guns. This is NOT the way” – Nick C.
“Sure wish I could take my helmet off to vomit” – Matt M.
“The most expensive way to get a Disney Cease and Desist letter sent next day air to your house” – Benjamin F.
“Almost as cringe as a Deadpool gun. Almost.” – Hop
“I wish Baby Yoda could Force Choke the ass-clown responsible for this embarrassment.” – Will P.
Selling this Disney series inspired gat is GunBroker seller Green Mountain Guns, located in Denver CO. Let’s see what they had to say about this series inspired 1911.

We have not test fired this firearm and we recommend evaluation by a competent gunsmith before firing. | Our Assessment: This impressively cerakoted Rock Island 1911 has had a Star Wars Mandalorian style cerakoted on it. This gun features one-off custom grips and has a custom flush barrel crown. Excellent for any firearm collectors and fans of the new series.
First off, I do think it’s funny that this gun has not been test-fired and should be evaluated “by a competent gunsmith before firing”. Maybe they wanted the gun to remain as mint as possible, or maybe someone just doesn’t want to be seen shooting this 1911. Personally, I would choose the latter.
HGFC is certainly no stranger to themed guns, but this particular model 1911 was a strange choice. I guess I just wasn’t expecting features like Picatinny rail or an ambi safety to be present on this gun. So as Rock Island 1911’s go, at least this one is a little more upscale.
I’ll never fully understand why themed guns are so popular. I certainly enjoyed both seasons of the Mandalorian, but I wouldn’t ever think to Cerakote a gun because of it. Who knows, maybe this is in fact the way, but I’m not counting on it for $1,599. However, and like always I leave it up to you, the reader, to decide.
