Sunrise, Miami shooting (Local news feed)

At 6AM this morning a team of FBI agents were executing a court-ordered Federal search warrant in Miami, Florida when a shooting took place which left two agents dead and three others wounded. The suspect was killed during the shootout.

The suspect was being investigated as part of a violent crimes against children case and had barricaded themselves inside an apartment at the Water Terrace apartment complex in Sunrise, Miami. The two wounded FBI agents were taken to the hospital and are said to be in a stable condition.

Local police had advised the public to avoid the area and residents to remain in their homes. The scene was declared safe at 9AM.

It is, thankfully, a rare occurrence that FBI agents are killed in shootouts of this scale. The circumstances around the shooting remain largely unclear and the deceased agents have not been named at this time.

The FBI is reviewing an agent-involved shooting which occurred this morning at approximately 6 a.m. in the vicinity of 10100 Reflections Boulevard, Sunrise, Florida. A team of law enforcement officers were there to execute a federal court-ordered search warrant in furtherance of a violent crimes against children case.

Two FBI agents are deceased and three are wounded. Two wounded agents were transported to hospital and are in stable condition. The names of the deceased will not be released at this time.

The subject is deceased.

In accordance with FBI policy, the shooting incident is under investigation by the FBI’s Inspection Division. The review process is thorough and objective and is conducted as expeditiously as possible under the circumstances. Because this is an ongoing investigation, no further information will be released at this time.
