POTD: New York National Guard Soldiers in Sniper Competition

Photo Of The Day – Established in 2014 this is TFB’s way to show carefully selected photographs on a daily basis. As a bonus, you get a short story and hopefully, you’ll learn or see something new.

Above you can see Sgt. Andres Diaz (to the left) and Sgt. 1st Class Matthew Melendez. They’re both assigned to the New York Army National Guard’s 1st Battalion, 69th Infantry, and here they participate in the ruck march segment of the annual Willliam P. Winston Sniper Championships conducted by the National Guard Marksmanship Training Center at Fort Chaffee Joint Manuever Training Center in Blanding, Arkansas on Dec. 5, 2020. The two soldiers represented New York at the competition and finished in 4th place.

You can find the National Guard Marksmanship Training Center here. It looks like a really cool place, and there are many more pictures to look at on their website.

The photo is from the U.S.Army National Guard, taken by Sgt. Israel Sanchez.

Can you recognize their sniper rifles?
