If you are old enough to remember the Dot Com and Y2K boom and the resulting crash/bust, you’ll also remember dial-up internet and unforgivably slow websites. The meager beginnings of e-commerce was not pretty. Well, I have flashbacks to those days every time I log into the ATF eForms system to submit yet another Form 1. Not yesterday of course, because somehow the ATF’s internet is closed on Wednesdays. But, better days are ahead; our friends at Orchid Advisors have announced that they have seen a demonstration of the new ATF eForms Form 4 system that will be used to transfer NFA items from dealers to end users and entities.
Electronic Form 4s have been missing for several years after a huge influx of users constantly crashed the system. Another demonstration will be held at the 2021 Firearms Industry Compliance Conference in June. A conference that might sound boring on its face but I’d really like to attend one day.

NFA NEWS: Orchid Advisors Gets ATF eForms Form 4 Demonstration
On January 28, the ATF provided a demonstration of the new electronic Form 4 to Orchid and other select members of the industry. Formally known as the “Application for Tax Paid Transfer and Registration of Firearm”, the Form 4 is used in the process of transferring NFA firearms to an unlicensed individual. The new electronic Form 4 is one of ten forms provided by ATF in their eForms system, alongside forms 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 6A, 9, 10 and 5300.11.
On Tuesday, June 8th, ATF will provide an overview and demo of its eForm software application to attendees of the Firearms Industry Compliance Conference (FICC). The discussion will include a review of the eForms application, a questions and answer session with Federal Firearms Licensees and an opportunity for manufacturing FFLs to provide input on the future design of the application.
